Specific Need
Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (KFAC) is the best investment in the future that you will make all year. On Wamego Match Day, not only will your generosity be matched at 50%, but every dollar you donate will be invested in educating the next generation, where the return can be exponential. We work tirelessly to educate the next generation on the origins of their food, fiber, and fuel to support a more agriculturally literate society. Today's youth will be tomorrow's leaders and policymakers who will help feed, clothe, and fuel the world.
Our needs include the following:
1. Funds to send out lesson plan kits to educators to assist them in incorporating agriculture in their classrooms.
2. Funds to support KFAC's educator professional development workshops.
Mission
Mission: "Connecting Classrooms to Kansas Agriculture"
Vision: "Agriculture in every classroom, every day"
Profile
Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (KFAC) is a statewide, self-funded 501(c)3 nonprofit educational program providing resources, training, and support for schools, educators, and volunteers to spark meaningful connections between classrooms and Kansas agriculture.
For the past 40 years, KFAC has provided free resources to Kansas teachers to assist them in incorporating agriculture in their classrooms through various free lesson plans, resources, and activities spanning many different subject areas. KFAC also provides educators with professional development to give them a more in-depth look into agriculture. We believe the more teachers know about agriculture, the better equipped they are to explain this industry to the next generation.
In recent years, KFAC has expanded the reach of its network to include even more educators. KFAC aims to engage educators who do not have a connection to agriculture and provide them with the resources needed to implement agricultural lessons in their classrooms successfully.
In recent years, KFAC has expanded the reach of its network to include even more educators. With their last free lesson plan kit promotion in 2023, they sent out more than 2,023 classroom kits, reaching K-12 educators in all 105 Kansas counties and all Kansas school districts, 84% of which are new to KFAC educators. KFAC aims to engage educators who do not have a connection to agriculture and provide them with the resources needed to successfully implement agricultural lessons in their classrooms.
We are looking for support of $5,000 to reach 500 more educators by the end of 2024!
